Early morning visit of Taj Mahal (closed on Fridays), a UNESCO Heritage Site, undisputedly one of the world's most beautiful buildings. The epitome of love, stands on the banks of the river Yamuna built in the 17th century by the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan. The white marble building changes its hue with the variations in the daylight. Made entirely of white marble and decorated with exquisite pietra dura (stone inlay) work, different types of precious and semi-precious stones were used in the intricate inlay work done on the interiors. This magnificent monument is built around a Charbagh or 'four garden' plan, split by watercourses— reflects the influence of Persian architectural style… an exquisite image that you'll remember forever. Afternoon visit Sarnath - the site of the deer park where Gautama Buddha is said to have given his first sermon. Aurangzeb started constructing the Bibi Ka Maqbara, but it was his son Prince Azam Shah who completed its construction. Later visit Daulatabad Fort which is also known as the Devagiri Fort. It is said that the battles that were fought in this fort were always won. The fort stands on a conical hill and the lower slopes of the hill had been cut for the purpose of more defense. The way to reach the top of the fort is very challenging as one has to pass through a narrow bridge which can hold only two persons at a time. Morning after breakfast, take a full day tour to world-renowned Ellora Caves. One of the most popular UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India, Ellora caves are also known as Verul. Dating back to the 6th and 10th century, these are a group of Hindu, Buddhist and Jain caves. These stunning man-made monolithic cave temples were carved during the rule of Kalachuri, Rashtrakuta and Chalukya dynasties. UNESCO inscribed the heritage site in the year 1983. There are a total of 34 caves temples. These comprise of 17 Hindu, 12 Buddhist, as well as 5 Jain caves, and are a proof of religious harmony prevalent in those times. Extending over 2 km, these caves are a display of architectural marvel of ancient India. It is said that the estimated dates of the caves coincide with the timing of the decline of Buddhism in India and reinstating of Hinduism. The Chalukya and Rashtrakuta rulers were great patrons of the Brahmanical movement, under whom most of the work of Ellora caves was done, including the most popular 7th century Kailasa temple. A set of caves was built during the 10th century. This was the time when the local rulers, converted from Shaivism (the followers of Lord Shiva) to the Digambara sect of Jainism. The designs on its walls and pillars include, leaves, flowers, birds, fish and other breathtaking ornamental designs Akshardham temple a specimen of fine craftsmanship, the Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar is one of the largest and most prominent temples in the entire state of Gujarat. Gandhinagar, It measures 240 feet in length, 131 feet in width and 108 feet in height. This intricately carved imperial structure stands regally amid the green garden. Wake up early in the morning and prepare for the first game drive at 6:00 – 9:30 am kindly check with the reception if there is any change in time. Enjoy the national park travelling in jeep with an estimated area of 400sq Km of this amazing reserve. The park is dotted with steep rocky hills and the dominating architecture of Ranthambhore Fort (built in the 10th century), adds to its landscape. The rugged park terrain alternates between dry deciduous forest, open grassy meadow, dotted by several lakes and rivers that are only made passable by rough roads built and maintained by the Forest Service. The tiger is not the only attraction at Ranthambhore although it is the one park resident that people come to see. A variety of birds including Owlets, the ubiquitous Langur (monkey), Leopard, Caracal, Hyena, Jackal, Jungle Cat, marsh Crocodiles, Wild Boar, Bears and various species of Deer are the other attractions. The Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama died in Kochi in 1524 when he was on his third visit to India. Visit Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica is one of the eight Basilicas in Kerala. Your journey will start from Pallathurathy starting at 12 noon cruise towards Kannjipadam - The land situated in a picturesque surrounding with- all beauty of Kerala - Coconut palm plantations, paddy fields, backwaters & canals. After lunch at Kannjipadam cruise via Thottapally towards- Thakazhi by reaching by 5.30PM. We will anchor the house boat and then after proceed for a village walks. The land is bounded by backwater and is the birth place of famous Malyalam writer Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai. Thakazhy was a centre of Buddhism during the early days. It was under the Chempakassery Kingdom, which is annexed to Travancore by Marthanda Varma. After you finish exploring the village return to house boat for dinner and overnight stay.

While on the houseboat you can enjoy fishing with rod or can ask the local chef for Kerala Cooking demonstration. The houseboat docks itself in the evening at around 1700 hrs as by this time the fisherman draws their nets in the backwaters. The Air conditioning in the houseboat also starts at night after the houseboat docks.

Day 02: Alleppey

Morning start cruising via Chambakkulam. Stop for a brief halt at the famous St. Mary's Church at Chambakkulam cruise via Nedumudi to Vennattukadu. After lunch explore the narrow escapes of back water with canoe (subject to weather conditions). As you drift along the backwaters, it is difficult not to be captivated by the local way of life. Seeing children travelling to school in a narrow canoe, local ladies washing the pots at the side of the canal and fishermen netting their daily meal in the shallows, you realize how integral this network is to the life of the region.
